About

Hi, I’m Salman! Watch a teaching sample of my work (20 minutes): https://youtu.be/uF5nKByTbHQ “Working with Salman as my tutor for my final computer science project was a great experience. He guided me through the full stack development process, step by step, and took the time to make sure I understood each concept thoroughly. He was always willing to meet whenever he could, and it was clear he genuinely cared about helping me succeed. Salman went above and beyond, not just explaining what to do, but why it was done that way which made a huge difference in my learning. Overall, he's a great tutor and an even better person. I really appreciate all the help and support he gave me throughout the project.” — Thomas K., Wayne State University I graduated with distinction from the University of Windsor: Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours), AI specialization, minor in Mathematics, and a 90.17% major average. Attendance: September 2021–May 2026. I earned 100% in COMP 1000, COMP 1410, COMP 2540, and COMP 2560, and supported 50+ students through tutoring and TA work. We start with what you understand and where you’re stuck. I use guided questions, visual explanations, code tracing, and debugging to help you understand why a solution works and solve problems independently. I welcome students from any school and any CS course. Topics include C, Java, Python, data structures and algorithms, Unix/Linux systems programming, operating systems, digital logic, computer architecture, software engineering, databases, networking, cybersecurity, AI, and machine learning. I also help with mathematics, including high-school math and the mathematical foundations of CS. I held three TA appointments in Data Structures & Algorithms and System Programming. Lessons in English, French, or Arabic. Send your syllabus, current topic, and goals for help with concepts, exam preparation, debugging, or project mentoring. Work Experience

Self-employed

May 2025 - present
Independent Computer Science Tutor
Provide patient, personalized tutoring across Computer Science year levels, from introductory programming to advanced systems and AI topics. Use guided questions, visual explanations, code tracing, and debugging to help students understand the reasoning behind their work. Support exam preparation, practical exercises, and project mentoring, with lessons adapted to each learner’s goals and pace. Offer online lessons in English, Arabic, or French with flexible scheduling.

Freelance

May 2025 - August 2025
Computer Science Tutor & Full-Stack Capstone Mentor
Mentored a final-year Wayne State University student on an inherited election-data web application developed for General Motors. This was an independent tutoring engagement with the student. • Guided GitHub onboarding, understanding the architecture, Docker-based local setup, debugging, and Git workflows. • Supported a new React page and changes to existing functionality, working with a Flask API, database administration through pgAdmin, and U.S. government open-data integration. • Provided guidance for data collection and planning a future linear regression model to explore electoral trends. • Explained the reasoning behind technical decisions and used guided practice to strengthen the student’s independent problem-solving.

Athena Security Group

May 2025 - June 2025
Cybersecurity & Data Systems Engineer — Freelance
Designed a pipeline that converts mirrored network traffic into graph data for security analysis. Connected Zeek, Filebeat, Logstash, and Neo4j; developed transformations from network logs into Cypher database updates; and explored alternative graph representations. Documented deployment and troubleshooting. Graph-based anomaly detection was a future application. This work informs how I teach networking, data pipelines, databases, and systems design.

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories

May 2024 - August 2024
Cyber Security Researcher / Intern
Built industrial cybersecurity simulations and practical learning materials at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. • Used VMware ESXi and GNS3 to model industrial systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and engineering workstations. • Integrated monitoring and security tools such as Tenable, Nozomi, and Elastic Stack into training workflows. • Developed and delivered hands-on threat-detection and incident-response training, connecting attack demonstrations to investigation and defensive actions. The role strengthened my ability to make complex security concepts understandable through practical exercises.

University of Windsor

October 2023 - December 2025
CS General Tutor
Provided one-to-one and small-group support for University of Windsor Computer Science students across year levels. • Explained programming, data structures, algorithms, systems programming, and related CS concepts using examples, code tracing, and guided practice. • Helped students reason through problems, debug systematically, and prepare for exams. • Adapted explanations to each student’s background and encouraged questions to build confidence and independent problem-solving.

University of Windsor

September 2023 - April 2025
Computer Science Teaching Assistant
Held three University of Windsor teaching-assistant appointments: • Fall 2023 — COMP 2540, Data Structures & Algorithms • Winter 2024 — COMP 2560, System Programming • Winter 2025 — COMP 2560, System Programming Supported students through office hours, coursework assessment, and constructive feedback. Used code tracing, guided debugging, and step-by-step explanations to connect implementation details with the underlying concepts.

University of Windsor

October 2022 - April 2023
Research Assistant — Network Security
Built and documented a reproducible network-security lab at the University of Windsor, combining physical hosts, Windows/Linux virtual machines, VLANs, and cloud-based variants. Automated traffic capture and used Python, Scapy, C, Wireshark, and command-line tools for authorized security experiments and dataset collection. Created a setup guide explaining installation, routing, and connectivity checks. This experience supports my teaching of networking, Linux, virtualization, security fundamentals, and systematic troubleshooting.

Knowledgeable, Dedicated, and Supportive friend and tutor

I had the pleasure of studying alongside Salman throughout our years at university, taking several computer science courses together, including COMP 1410, COMP 2120, COMP 2560, COMP 2650, COMP 2660, COMP 3110, and others. Throughout our studies, Salman consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and keeping up with course material. What stood out most was his willingness to help others, often organizing group study sessions before midterms to review course content, explain difficult concepts, and help us prepare for exams. Based on my experience studying with Salman, I can confidently say that he is knowledgeable, dedicated, and great at helping others understand challenging topics. His patience, willingness to share his knowledge, and ability to work through course material with others make him an excellent tutor. I would highly recommend Salman to any student looking for help with computer science.

Amazing learning experience - highly recommend!

Highly highly recommend booking a session with Salman! I have never brought a problem to him that he did not help me with, and he remained extremely patient with me for over a year. I’m a visual learner, and he made sure I had enough practice with different concepts until my confidence grew. He’s very invested in his students and his teaching, so don’t hesitate to book.
