Tutor Information

About

Hello! My name is Maya and I’m a recent Chemical Engineering graduate from Queen’s University, where I also completed studies in Global Development. I’m passionate about math and science, and I really enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects that can often feel overwhelming. I have experience tutoring elementary and high school students in Math, including Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus, as well as Science, including Chemistry and Biology. I’ve also helped students with English, Geography, History, and general study skills. My approach is patient, supportive, and personalized. I like to understand how each student learns best, then break concepts down in a way that feels clear and manageable. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for a test, building stronger study habits, or feeling more confident in class, I’m happy to work with them toward their goals. Send me a message with a bit about what you’re looking for, and I’d be happy to chat and set up an introductory meeting!

Reviews

Great tutor for math!!

Maya tutored me in Grade 11 Functions and Grade 12 Advanced Functions, and she was really patient and helpful. She helped me understand topics like factoring, transformations, rational expressions, trigonometry, and working through word problems. One thing I really liked was that she didn’t just repeat the textbook explanation. If I was confused, she would explain the question in a different way or relate it to something I already understood, which made the problems feel much less intimidating. She also helped me break down longer questions step by step so I knew where to start. Working with Maya helped me feel more confident in math and made Functions and Advanced Functions feel a lot more manageable. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, patient, and effective tutor!
