Math and Physics Tutor

Relevant coursework: Calculus I-IV, Linear Algebra, Intermediate-Advanced Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, General Relativity, Special Relativity, Applied Partial Differential Equations.

With a partner, I instructed a weekly three-hour lab/tutorial and graded students’ work, troubleshooting equipment and helping students properly take and analyze data. I enjoyed making concepts accessible and exciting, and I made an effort to build rapport with students to encourage communication whenever needed. I graded all submitted material in a timely manner, and addressed all issues immediately.

Employed by UTokyo to improve sensitivity of low-temperature data collection equipment. Applied electromagnetic and mathematical concepts to transform optimization-by-hand method into dynamic temperature-dependent simulation. Presented results through posters and talks at condensed matter physics conferences in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Privately tutor calculus, linear algebra, high school math. Enjoys communicating difficult concepts concisely; builds student confidence through problem-solving.

Coached students, one-on-one or in groups, in research and essay-writing. Emphasized development of student writing structure on top of grammar and spelling.

Provided free tutoring to students in 1st and 2nd year courses. Adapted to the unique course selection and background of every student, using concepts from core math courses to walk through applied problems.
