In University, I studied primarily Physics, taking almost all the PHYS courses Undergraduate Physics had to offer. During my degree, I had the opportunity to work both as a Lab Instructor for 1st Year Physics and as a General Tutor for the Math and Science Resource Centre. There I also had the pleasure of participating in two research projects over time. During the summer I worked in an Optical Engineering Laboratory where we designed and tested meta-materials for different uses. In my final year I did an honours research project in Medical Imaging where we derived a method for calculating the Modulation Transfer Function of new Single Photon Counting Devices used in modern x-ray imaging. In the time spent since University I have dedicated half a decade to PHYSiMATICS International Academy (www.physimatics.info), my company with prime directive of making learning, teaching, and doing physics more accessible! I currently teach students enrolled in University courses (or pre-University courses) one-on-one through Zoom. Students enrolled are primarily seeking guidance and extra learning for a certain course they are currently enrolled in. However, students often enroll in courses with PHYSiMATICS outside of the University system to supplement their learning or to get ahead!

Currently I teach students daily and on a weekly basis. Outside of preparing customized materials for each student and communicating with them between tutorials, I am working on providing offLine student and teacher resources at: www.physimatics.info.

I was hired to build an apparatus with the purpose of characterizing reflectivity/ transitivity of transparent conducting thin films for the application in Smart Windows Technology. My daily work involved managing experimental equipment, handling data acquisition and simulating tasks in MatLab, LabVIEW, Maple, and Excel. In this work I had to develop essential experimental skills such as proper project planning and organization to report on progress and results.

Here I tutored students in a variety of subjects, helped organize the Back to Basics Math Workshop (2016, 2017), and corresponded regularly with students, fellow teachers, and my supervisor. This job required me to think on my feet as well as develop/ practice different pedagogical strategies to engage with a variety of learning styles.

This work allowed me to provide lectures, set-up/ tear-down of experimental apparatus, engage in on the fly troubleshooting with lab equipment, mark lab reports, meet with students, oversee safety in the laboratory environment, instill passion in the physical concepts, and demonstrate the principles in an applied way.

As a working student, I began offering my services as a private tutor. Once I completed a course, I would develop materials to teach incoming students in that course. At this time I was meeting with students one-on-one either at their homes or in a public space. This experience is what laid the foundation and brought me down a path which ultimately lead me to starting my own academy!
