I have been working with young people as a teacher/mentor for over 10 years.
During that time, I taught Algebra I, Algebra I for Repeaters, Pre-Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II. I have been very effective in helping my students achieve success in their math class, from understanding the material to making incredible gains on their End-of-Course State exams. My students tell me they love the way I break the concepts and material down for them so that they truly understand.
I focus on closing the gap for students who usually struggle in and/or have fallen behind in Algebra I or the math subjects prior to it, such as Pre-Algebra (7th and 8th grade Math), while helping them build confidence.
After I determine the gaps in the student's understanding, the concepts they missed in prior grades or lessons, I then work on closing those gaps so they gain the proper understanding of the math.
I also make sure students build confidence by providing opportunities for them to experience success during each session!
One past student said, "I hated math, but she helped me to overcome my fear of it. I'd recommend her to anyone. She's kind, intelligent, patient, so helpful, and just a great person with a gift for teaching."
Teaching and tutoring is my passion, and my ultimate goal is to empower students all over the world to succeed by helping them overcome their struggles and anxiety in one of their toughest academic areas, math!
