About

My lessons are designed to make Spanish a real communication tool, not a list of rules to memorize. Each session is engaging, dynamic, and personalized to your level, personality, interests, and goals. We use conversations, everyday situations, music, films, news, short stories, readings, audio, images, and memory and association games to encourage you to think, connect ideas, and most importantly, speak in Spanish. My background in communications, journalism, writing, literacy education, and training allows me to teach language through the way we organize and express our thoughts. Instead of learning vocabulary and grammar in isolation, we identify what you already know, introduce new expressions and structures, and gradually apply them to real conversations. Grammar is always present, but often you will use it without feeling that you are studying a rule. By talking about your experiences, opinions, interests, emotions, and goals, structures begin to repeat, make sense, and naturally become part of the way you communicate. We will work on listening comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, and confidence. As you progress, you can move from everyday conversations to expressing complex opinions, telling stories, participating in professional and social situations, and preparing for interviews, presentations, or speeches. My goal is for you to internalize Spanish rather than constantly translate it in your mind. I want you to be able to sound as interesting, intelligent, and articulate in Spanish as you do in your native language. Little by little, Spanish will stop feeling like something you study and start feeling like another voice that truly belongs to you.
