Hired as a part-time teaching assistant in a preschool program designed to promote English language learning. Engaged with children ages 2 to 4 years old speaking and singing songs in English using gestures, games and other age-appropriate strategies in order to promote language immersion and discovery. Created first English songbook collection for school and future staff members. Using solely Spanish to communicate, collaborated closely with head teachers to facilitate a classroom of 16+ students (including special needs learners) and the daily scheduled activities. Broadened understanding and managed expectations about being an international student in the U.S. by introducing them to cultural activities and experiences in western MA, and comparing traditions in their native lands to those in the U.S. Personally developed a deeper understanding of Latin American and Indigenous cultures.
