About
I’m Leslie, a qualified educator with a Bachelor of Education from McGill University (graduated with Distinction) and a Canadian teaching certificate. I have extensive experience teaching elementary-aged students in both English and math, as well as supporting children with diverse learning needs.
My tutoring is personalized to the student—not a one-size-fits-all approach. I take the time to understand where a student is struggling, identify areas that need reinforcement, and adapt my teaching methods so that concepts become clearer and more manageable.
I can help elementary students with:
• English language skills, including reading, writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure
• Essay and narrative writing, including developing an expressive and confident writing voice
• Elementary mathematics and strengthening conceptual understanding
• Homework support and preparation for school assessments
• Building organization, independence, and confidence as a learner
• Reinforcing foundational skills and addressing learning gaps
I have also worked with students who needed additional support because of language barriers and diverse learning needs. My experience has taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, encouragement, and finding the approach that works best for each individual child.
I have worked alongside child psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists and coordinated services for children with learning disabilities and neuro-developmental disorders. This experience has given me an appreciation for looking beyond the immediate academic difficulty and understanding the learner as a whole.
My goal is simple: to help your child say, “I understand this now,” and to give them the skills and confidence to become a more independent learner.
