I am a Laurentian University alumni who completed their BSc degree in Zoology with Honours. As part of this degree, I studied a wide array of biology courses, (introductory biology, evolutionary biology, principals of ecology, mycology, plant diversity, animal diversity, form and function of vertebrates, etc). I would be very happy to meet with you (free of charge for the first session) to see if I can help you achieve your goals. I believe in an examples based, heavily guided approach, while also giving you the room to make errors and eventually truly master the material yourself. I obtained my degree in Zoology with Honours from Laurentian University (after first starting out in Anthropology). As part of my formation, I covered a wide range of course within the biological sciences (mycology, botany, ecology, evolutionary biology, general biology, etc).

September 2023 - April 2024Undergraduate Thesis (Identifying the presence of microplastics in Lithobates pipiens from the Greater Sudbury region)
· Conducted undergraduate research into the presence of microplastics in the Northern Leopard frog (Lithobates pipiens) among sites with varying degrees of plastic pollution.
· Collected data from frog specimens, soil samples, weather, vegetation cover.
· Performed frog dissection and GI tract extraction, SVL measurements, microplastic particle isolation and extraction using KOH digestion, and plastic identification (FTIR) to confirm suspected microplastic particle identity.

· Conducted research on how the conservation status of transboundary species may vary between the United States (U.S. Endangered Species Act) and Canada (Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada).
· Compiled relevant information (animals’ class, species name, ESA status, COSEWIC status and NatureServe Global Status).

· Conducted research in Le Monde newspaper (focusing on articles covering biodiversity from 2010-2019).
· Compiled relevant information obtained from articles (topic of article, date, whether coverage of biodiversity is negative, positive or neutral, etc.).

· Assisted a PhD student in setting up and conducting various field experiments related to juvenile and larval salamander/newt skin microbiome (mesocosms, field surveys and captures, lab microcosms). Also assisted other researchers in their tasks (notably with the research stations turtle project).
· Assisted in public outreach activities (Meet the Researcher Day).
