I’m a patient and dedicated tutor who loves helping students turn math struggles into successes. Whether your child has learning differences or simply needs a steady, experienced guide who connects well with young people, I’d be honored to help them build confidence and skill in math. Many of my students stay with me from middle school through high school, and I treasure those long-term relationships — watching their abilities, independence, and problem-solving confidence grow over time. My love for teaching began in Baltimore, volunteering as a math and reading tutor for inner-city youth — a rewarding challenge that sharpened my ability to spot learning gaps and adapt lessons creatively. Since then, I’ve logged over 10,000 hours of tutoring, using platforms such as Wyzant and Varsity Tutors, and in-person with more than 100 local students. Before becoming a full-time tutor, I spent nearly 20 years as a molecular biology and genetics researcher at Johns Hopkins Medical School and Duke Medical Center, co-authoring articles in top scientific journals. My background in laboratory research demanded precision, logical problem-solving, and clear communication — the same skills essential for mastering mathematics. I help students see that math is more than numbers; it’s a powerful tool used to solve real-world problems in science, technology, and beyond. I bring this mindset to every lesson, helping students build both skill and real-world appreciation for math.
