I have both a Bachelor's in Chemistry and a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Rutgers University. I have over 25 years experience both working with scientific and statistical models in the fields of chemistry and air pollution.
I have been tutoring chemistry since 2003, helping many students find success in High School, AP and College level Chemistry classes. My own educational achievements in Chemistry include achieving a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam and receiving my Bachelors in Chemistry with Highest Honors. I believe chemistry is extremely useful for understanding the everyday world, provides a basis for study in numerous scientific fields, and is great training for combining analytical thinking with common experience. Having gone through a number of confusing classes myself, I am passionate about breaking down complex problems into simple and easily understandable concepts, and passing the same ability to students to help them develop their analytical thinking as efficiently as possible.
Additionally, I have been using the R programming language since 2008 for my daily work in my data analysis career. I have been tutoring students in R for a number of years now, and I especially enjoy helping students new to R and programming in getting started with their first data analyses. Many students first encounter R in classes without prior programming experience and I can help get you going with using R for your data manipulation and visualization assignments.
I also enjoy serving as a long term mentor for graduate students using R to perform data analyses for master's and Ph.D. theses, In addition to assistance with R coding, I am happy to share my insights and experience with dissertation writing and graduate school experience in addition to understanding and interpreting both R code and analytical results.
I am available most weekday afternoons and evenings, and am flexible on the weekends, so please let me know if I can help you!
