From high school STEM to research labs | U of T PhD tutor & mentor

À propos

I'm Nilou. I did my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto, with my research based at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Before that I did my bachelor's and master's in Electrical & Computer Engineering. I tutor high-school and university math, physics, and statistics, plus engineering coursework, signals and systems, MATLAB, Python, and intro machine learning and data analysis. I also help with GRE quant, research, and study skills. Whether you're in Grade 10 or halfway through a degree, I explain hard ideas in plain language and start from wherever you are. I don't rush, and I won't make you feel behind. Almost anything clicks with the right example and a bit of patience. Finding that example for you is my job. I also mentor, and that part matters to me just as much. My path wasn't a straight line. I've worked in demanding places like U of T and Holland Bloorview, and I know what it feels like to walk in sure that everyone else is smarter than you. I can help with the things nobody teaches you: how to study when the pace picks up, how to talk to professors and supervisors, how to read a research paper, how to present your work, and how to figure out what you actually want to do with STEM. If you're curious, ambitious, or just need someone in your corner, come talk to me. Sessions are online and flexible. Tell me what you're working on and where you want to go, and we'll take it from there.
