I specialize in helping high school and university students meet, keep, and excel in their math goals. This comes from 9 years of teaching at university, over 4000 hours of tutoring, and 750 5-star reviews and ratings.
My path has been conventional for a math educator but directly informs my empathy for struggling math students. I did poorly in high school and began my college math career assigned to the lowest math class offered, even having to retake some university math courses. I struggled and had to learn how to learn. Along the way, I fell in love with mathematics. The effort did not lessen but the struggle transformed into a lifetime adventure. Non-academic careers have helped me to better appreciate how much math appears in our world and daily lives.
The sum of my experience has allowed me to know the when, what, why, and how of math pitfalls. I expect and encourage exploring and making mistakes. Every student is more than smart enough to learn and master the material!
