I am a college student studying the art of telling stories on stage and through song, searching for the deep, hidden messages in texts. I am also wonderful with young kids as I used to work at a princess party company. I LOVE Music theory and am currently in honors theory 4. My parents are also music teachers so my love of music is in my genes. I will do my best to teach my students to be as excited as I am about the intricacies of songs! I have always maintained very high marks in my English classes and I was previously a writing tutor at my high school for two years. Through reading and studying literature and plays from elementary school, I have a very strong grasp of what makes an entertaining and thoughtful writer. Since I am majoring in theater, I am very personable and have a different point of view towards learning than my peers. Maybe this point of view is just what YOU need! I recently took a leadership class on how to improve one's leadership skills and discovered that anyone can be a great leader if they are willing to listen to others and focus on their strengths. Hi there! My name is Herbert Ortiz, but I often go by Herb. I am currently a Math and Physics double major at New York University. While I spend a lot of time in class and studying, my math doesn't stop there. I often spend my time tutoring whenever and whoever I can, doing Putnam-style math problems, and just engaging in general math research(nothing serious, just casual learning of things that are not taught in the classroom). During my High School career, I tutored elementary and Intermediate school students in both Math and Science. This ranged from elementary math and science, all the way to basic Earth Science and Algebra 1. I also tutored my fellow high school students. I am able to tutor whoever wants to in the subjects listed in my profile below. With my tutee, I try to make sure they get to see the beauty and art behind math, which often gets lost within the classroom. I also try to make sure I provide a judgment-free zone, where tutees can feel like they ask any question without feeling dumb or stupid.
