Weill Cornell Medicine, University of Oxford, Northwestern University
Hi! I’m Tamara. I'm currently a Neuroscience PhD candidate at Weill Cornell Medicine, with a strong academic background in biology and the life sciences. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical and Therapeutic Neuroscience from the University of Oxford, where I graduated with distinction, and a Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology from Northwestern University, where I graduated summa cum laude. Throughout my academic training, I found that the classes I learned the most from were those where complex biological concepts were explained clearly and intuitively. That experience strongly shapes the way I approach tutoring today. I have experience tutoring middle and high school students in biology in one-on-one settings, working with students across American, IB, and IGCSE curricula. I’ve helped students strengthen their understanding of core topics, prepare for exams, and build effective study strategies, while also supporting learners with ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia. I focus on meeting students where they are, identifying areas of confusion, and breaking down material into manageable, logical steps so students feel confident rather than overwhelmed. When tutoring, I aim to make biology feel approachable and engaging. I typically introduce topics conceptually before moving into details, visuals, and practice questions, adjusting my approach based on each student’s learning style and goals. I want the students I work with to not only improve their grades, but also feel more comfortable asking questions and thinking critically about the material. I am easy to reach, responsive, and happy to work with families to ensure each student gets the support they need. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
