Suffering from statistics (or epidemiology) anxiety!? Statistics is often taught in a way that makes it feel more confusing than it needs to be. As a result, many students experience unnecessary statistical anxiety. As a long-time professor and tutor, I have heard students say things like this many times: “If I can just pass this course, I can get my degree.” But statistics is not as hard as it may seem. A solid understanding of a few essential concepts can reduce anxiety, build confidence, and make the subject much more manageable. I have been especially successful in helping mature students gain confidence and improve their understanding. With extensive experience teaching and tutoring epidemiology and statistics, I offer patient, empathetic support tailored to each student’s needs. Sessions focus on building a solid understanding of a few essential statistical (or epidemiological) concepts. Rather than memorizing formulas, students learn how to interpret results properly and explain what their calculations mean. Because there is no substitute for doing problems, each session emphasizes guided practice, understanding, and interpretation. I have had particular success tutoring mature students.
