Columbia Law LSAT Tutor (173 LSAT Score, 99th Percentile)

I have tutored professionally, specializing in the LSAT, and I scored a 173 in June 2022 on my first try. Currently, I am a 2L at Columbia Law. Prior to law school, I worked in banking in NYC and attended the University of Toronto for undergrad, where I majored in Financial Economics. When I first took the LSAT, I was disappointed with my score. But I truly believe this is a learnable test and anyone can improve by learning the strategies for each question type and by practicing. During my lessons, I will be lecturing minimally, and the majority of time will be spent on doing practice problems together to help you understand why an answer is correct/incorrect. I will tailor each session to focus on areas you need more work on, and I will share all the strategies and tips/tricks I learned in my LSAT journey. I want to make these sessions as effective and efficient as possible.

Experienced Math and Reading Tutor, Helps with Standardized Tests

Tell me what your goals are, and I will show you how to make them happen! I've worked in the public schools teaching 7th to 12th grade students for 4 years. After that I worked 3 years in Adult Basic Education, helping to prepare students for the GED test. For the past 6 months I have been tutoring privately in ELA, Math, and LSAT test prep. I'm experienced with many different ages, subjects, and backgrounds, including incarcerated adult students. My own educational background is in Philosophy. I possess a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Florida. In 2016, I graduated from San Diego State University's Teacher Credential Program with a subject matter certification in English and Social Studies. In addition, I have extensive training in developmental learning theories specific to one-on-one tutoring. Depending on the needs of the student, I will come prepared with a structured lesson plan, always with the expectation that plans are flexible. The student is free to bring to the lesson any work that they have questions with. When working with younger students, I will use different techniques to keep them engaged, including allowing them to get up and work out problems on the white board. Ideally, the best way to teach something is to prove to the student that it is true. So for geometry concepts, I will rely on visual and tactile demonstrations wherever possible, including by bringing in models of cylinders and cones. Some of the most common lessons I teach are writing lessons on how to 'show, not tell' and reading lessons to guide students through advanced texts such as Shakespeare. My lessons will conclude with homework assignments, either vocabulary words or practice problems to encourage independent practice. Students can always review a lesson summary I provide after each lesson. I can provide online sessions anywhere in the world. But also, if you are looking for an in person session in the San Diego county area, I am your guy.

Helping Students Learn to Master English Since 2007

Hello! My name is Brandon. I was born in the USA, but I have lived in Israel for the past 26+ years. English is my mother-tongue, I am fluent in Hebrew, as well as proficient in several other languages (Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian) at varying levels of proficiency. This means that if you have trouble saying the words in English, you can say (or write) them in any one of these languages, and there is a very good chance that I will understand you, and we will be able to communicate. I have a B.A. degree in Linguistics - which is the study of language(s) and the structure of language(s). I am currently engaged in private academic research while on hiatus from an interdisciplinary M.A. / PhD research program in Archaeology / Assyriology / Egyptology / Bible-Research at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I am TESOL/TEFL-certified to teach ESL English, and I am also a software (and website app) developer, as well as a scientific researcher. For 7+ years - from 2007 to 2014 - I was a teacher/tutor of various subjects (all with mostly English course material) at the Learning Center for the Blind and Dyslexic Students at Hebrew University of Jerusalem teaching mostly adult students of university ages 18-40+. From July 2018 through the present I have taught both ESL English and Professional Business English remotely online via the internet to students (both adults and children) in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Brazil, Mexico, USA, and Canada. Furthermore, I have worked with many professional adult students specifically on improving their speaking (and writing) abilities, test preparation for the TOEFL, IELTS, LSAT, and other exams, as well as preparation for business (and university) interviews, presentations, reports, doctoral theses, etc.

Best Tutor Around. Duke-Trained with Empathy, Experience & Expertise

I offer professional, one-on-one tutoring in a huge array of academic subjects -- math, English, philosophy, the hard sciences, test prep (e.g., SAT, GRE and LSAT) and more. With fifteen years of experience studying college-level subjects, I have taught in classrooms at UT and tutored at the grade-school, college, and post-college levels. Work with me so I can make my success become your success. Together we can break the ice of incomprehension that bars the way between you and your academic goals. I'm eager to teach you to love the very subjects you used to hate. I scored 155+ on a professionally administered IQ test, started college at age fourteen, graduated there at the top of my class, and made a perfect score on the GRE on my first try. I've earned double Master's degrees, the first from Duke University and the second from the University of Texas. I specialize in taking students from ground zero all the way to the apex of their abilities. I work with my students slowly and carefully, with warmth and encouragement, going at their own pace.
