McMaster
Hi there! I am a physics masters candidate at York university studying nano-satellite engineering. I finished my honors bachelors of astrophysics at McMaster university in April of 2023. I love physics and math, and I strongly believe having a teacher who loves what they do is extremely influential on a student's success. I am a member of the physics instructor's journal group and was an executive of the undergraduate physics society at McMaster. My tutoring practice is queer, trans, and disability inclusive. Unlike many other tutors who have been successful through all of high school, I struggled with my early academic career. During the end of my second year of university, I had the opportunity to get help from an extremely passionate teaching assistant, who changed my view on math from a "challenging, boring" subject to something which I have become deeply interested in. With my newfound love for the material, I worked my way up to finishing my 4th year with a 3.92/4.0 GPA. This makes me uniquely qualified to be a tutor - I am familiar with the feeling of being lost when it comes to math and physics, and I know what it takes to turn that around. I hope to be the inspiration for you to not only excel at math and physics, but to enjoy it as well. I have been told by former students that I am very good at breaking down complicated subjects using analogies and deconstructions, and then building back up to the more difficult material. I have developed techniques to ensure that I avoid the small errors that many physics students are prone to, tricks to easily verify your answers, and methods to quickly trace where any errors come from if your answer doesn't check out. My life's goal is to teach physics and astronomy. I am seeking further education to someday become a professor in the field, so I can continue to teach and share the beautiful world of math and physics, and so that I can conduct my own research.

Learn how to… - Visualize the concepts to solve problems - Develop a “Recipe for Success” by breaking problems into steps - Recall the solution strategy when any problem is put in front of you - Solve the problems quickly by implementing the most efficient solution - See the bigger picture of how the concepts fit in the real world - Increase your grade on Quizzes and Midterms - Decrease your Stress and amount of Study Time Students have said that I teach in a way which makes the topics seem so simple and easy to apply to their assignments and tests. They say that my teaching is much more effective than their professor’s or any content that exists on YouTube. I provide detailed explanations (with diagrams) and a recipe/ algorithm for working through different problems. In tutorial, I break down difficult questions using the methods I teach you and provide you with a quiz following the lesson. I mark each of these quizzes individually and send you detailed feedback. My philosophy is that making mistakes is a vital part of learning, but why not make those mistakes with me, have them corrected, and then perform to your highest potential come test time. Once you contact me, we will set up a free 1-hour Entry Consultation through Zoom. In this meeting, we will overview the tutoring process, answer any of your initial questions, and customize a Plan of Action based on your learning goals. Tutorials are generally 1.5 hours in duration and each tutorial is followed by a quiz. By following this program, I can guarantee that your understanding will improve with each and every lesson. Please send me your syllabus and I will customize my teaching to both your course and the struggles you are encountering. Overall, I teach all courses in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and Statistics programs at the college and university level. So if you are looking for a tutor to aid you in multiple courses, I am your guide. Contact me today to reserve your spot!

I am a full-time astrophysics researcher at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (CITA), at the University of Toronto. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in physics at MIT, and my masters and PhD degrees in astronomy and astrophysics at Harvard University. I am a cosmologist working at the boundary between theory and data. My interest span the formation history of the universe, from galaxy composition to dark matter, and the computational techniques that we use to squeeze information about them. I am very passionate about all things physics, astrophysics, AI, machine learning, and I have tutored in these subjects for 14 years; please check out some of my work, outreach and hobbies on my website. I have participated in 5 international olympiads (IPhO,IOAA,IAO,IJSO, Zhautikov), and have obtained a gold metal at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics amongst others. I have lead the USA National Team for the IOAA. Happy to teach people about these programs, and help coach and train you for them. i am also happy to provide coaching for admissions to universities accross North America. You’re not bad at math. You’re just tired of trying to understand a language no one ever really taught you to speak. What if the formulas finally connected? What if every “I don’t get it” turned into “wait… that actually makes sense”? What if exams stopped feeling like traps and started feeling like challenges you knew how to handle? That’s the shift we create here. You’ll be learning with an Associate Professor and PhD in Astrophysics — but this isn’t a lecture hall. It’s a space where math is untangled patiently, logically, and with the kind of precision that comes from teaching IB, IGCSE, A-level and AP students for years. No shortcuts. No copying homework answers. No emergency revision sessions at midnight. Instead, you’ll learn to think mathematically — to read a problem, take it apart, and solve it with confidence rather than luck. If you’re a parent, this is what you’ll start to notice at home: Not “Can you help me solve this?” but “I think I know how this works — let me show you.” That moment — from panic to understanding — is the whole point of every lesson. The method is simple, but powerful: build the foundations, show the logic behind every step, and train your mind to recognize patterns instead of memorizing formulas. Mistakes are allowed. Questions are expected. Effort is essential. And because respect goes both ways — your time matters. Lessons start on time, the connection is reliable, and you get full focus. You’ll always know what we’re working toward and how close you are to getting there. So whether you’re aiming for a 7 in IB Math, an A* in A-levels, preparing for AP Calculus, or simply want math to stop feeling like a wall you keep running into — this is where it begins to make sense. Ready? Let’s make math something you can trust.
