Since 2018, I have tutored English to university students, graduate students, business professionals from all over the world. In addition to English practice, my primary work involves proofreading and editing content that my students ask me to review for them. Message me to receive a free 15-minute trial session to discuss your fluency goals, and how I may help you reach them. If you are interested in my proofreading and editing services, message me for that as well. Each student has a different learning style, and my work is uniquely based on each student's particular learning needs and goals. A student preparing to give a presentation at work or university has different goals than someone who wants to learn English for international travel. Others want to work on sentence structure, pronunciation, and learning new vocabulary. Likewise, the proofreading and editing work I perform is focused on each client's needs, 'voice', style, and intended audience. ESL writers have specific needs in their writing. I review all corrections made, and make suggestions for improvement. I also use our review time as a tutoring support, as English writing requires a different approach than English speaking does. Some find writing in English easier, while others try very hard to avoid it! Practicing English writing, reading, and speaking "exercises" your brain's "muscles" in different ways. It is easy to prefer the method you're most comfortable with -- but that is not how we grow our "muscles" and improve in other areas of English fluency.

I graduated college set on becoming a high school English teacher, but I actually became a stay-at-home mom. I then opened an in-home daycare where I've been teaching young minds while home-schooling my kids. I specialize in emerging readers, phonics, early writing/grammar. I also do elementary math. When I'm not working with kids, I'm taking my kids to their activities, teaching at our Church, practicing hand lettering, making and designing things on my Cricut, or reading. I offer a free 15-minute session that will act as an evaluation so I can see where we will need to start.

I have tutored students ranging in age from eight to 70 in subjects including English, Calculus and Philosophy. Rather than imposing a preset curriculum on you, as a school might, I find out, by conversing with you, what is confusing you, and then patiently explain what you need to understand -- as many times as may be necessary.

In high school, I tutored my peers on a weekly basis as a member of the National Honor Society. During this time, I realized I was passionate about helping and guiding those struggling to learn some of my favorite subjects. With this passion in mind, I enrolled in a Service-Learning class at Northeastern University, which included weekly service in the community as a class requirement. For my service, I created and taught biology lessons to 3rd-grade students participating in an after-school program. Being able to see the student's sense of accomplishment when they understood what was being taught and realizing how cool science could be further solidified my love for teaching. In my senior year of college, I became a Teaching Assistant for an Introduction to Biology course. In this role, I taught weekly biology lab sessions and guided students as they completed their assignments. I also held office hours where students could come and ask questions about course material, lab procedures, and their assignments.
