Wilfrid Laurier University
I am currently a student at the Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo campus. I am studying Global Studies with a Social Entrepreneurship option and I am now entering my 4th year of studies. Global studies offers a range of subject in regards to theory, philosophy, politics, religion, anthropology, global economy, international development, globalization and culture, and peace and conflict studies. While social entrepreneurship offers courses in building social ventures, sustainability, and community engagement. Both these programs require their students to conduct extensive research for every assignment that is given and expects students to write coherent, gramtically-correct, and well-researched papers. By using everything I have learned thus far, I will try my best to teach students in subject matters that I have learned over the course of 3 years.

I’m a freshman at Michigan State University studying to get my degree in English with a focus in secondary education, meaning I’ll get the normal English degree but will also be getting a license to teach in the state of Michigan. In my senior year of high school, I was a mentor in a ninth grade English class, where I graded papers, occasionally planned and taught my own lessons, and helped students with understanding the course material. I also often help my two youngest siblings, ages 5 and 6, respectively, with their schoolwork. While my best subject is English, I was an A student throughout high school and am very confident in my ability to successfully tutor other subjects. I’m looking forward to any opportunity to tutor!

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Education with a concentration in History. History, especially American History (the Salem Witch Trials, Revolutionary War, Civil War, The Victorian Era, World War I) is a great passion of mine. I have not done a lot of tutoring, aside from Violin lessons quite some time ago. I was a substitute teacher for two different school systems in West Virginia. I substitute taught a wide array of subjects from Social Studies to Math to P.E. To LD classes. After my work as a substitute teacher, I worked as an Assistant Curator at a museum for 15 years. There I helped with history based programs for school children amongst many other tasks.
