Harvard University

Experienced Tutor , Specializing in SAT and College Prep

I am Hawraz, currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics at Harvard College. Tutoring students and helping them succeed has been a part of my life for most of my life. It started when I began tutoring my middle school classmates on our tests coming up. Ever since I loved the process of helping other students succeed academically! My tutoring continued in high school, during summers when I would teach students at a private center, and at Harvard College where I was a course assistant in multivariable calculus and economics classes. In short, I love teaching others! Most of my tutoring experience comes from individual 1-1 sessions, in which I emphasize students asking questions repeatedly on guiding them through the material. I also focus on making tutoring a fun experience and can give students material to practice with afterward. Of course, this approach can be changed based on individual needs and requests. I am always open to feedback from students and parents and will provide fast responses to messages. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!

Bishop Strachan School, McGill University

Student at McGill University, majoring in Cultural Studies (a branch of English Lit).

I am a student at McGill University, where I major in Cultural Studies (a branch of English Lit) and minor in Philosophy. The beginning of this year, I started writing for The McGill Daily, McGill’s oldest newspaper. From this opportunity, I developed the ability to write, in detail, about a variety of topics including culture and current affairs. Furthermore, it taught me how to efficiently communicate with a variety of diverse individuals and foster healthy work relationships.Prior to achieving the position of editor, I was a writer for my school newspaper for three years. Once promoted, I was in charge of deciding the content for each issue and editing the works of numerous students. This position taught me how to remain on-top of current events and learn how to attract my target audience. Furthermore, being editor strengthened my writing skills in terms of grammar and structure. I also improved my ability to work under pressure without comprising the quality of my work. In my graduating year of high school, I won the The Leta Macdonell Currer ’65 Memorial Scholarship for my expertise in writing and studies in English Lit.

St Dominics Academy

Online English Teacher

The school i went to in High school is the most influential school.I come from South Africa and in South Africa graduating from a school with an IEB curriculum level is the highest honor. IEB stands for Independent Examinations Board .It is equivalent to the UK A Levels. The IEB curriculum focuses on teaching students additional problem solving skills throughout their school career.I was fortunate enough to have had this curriculum. A school that has IEB has private exams written for the students at the end of Matric. They set the exams at a level that you would receive in University so you will be prepared for what you are going into.Students that graduate with IEB are most likely to be chosen over another form of curriculum because of the high standard.English is a prime priority in IEB ,they come frequently to the school and take students and exam them in a real life scenario to see how the curriculum is helping. After Matric i decided to study English online.I got started and over the course of 4 months i completed a TFFL course of 300 hr.I am excited and ready to start teaching English and be able to implement the IEB curriculum online to people around the world.

Cedar Crest College

Adept Tutor Specializing in HS Middle School and Elementary Math

I'm Emily! I am a junior in college, majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Biology. I have been tutoring for two years, with experience ranging from elementary school students (in public school as well as home-schooled) to those in college. In high school, I worked as a teaching assistant in a study skills class, which focused on how students could study for their math class. This gave me the opportunity to work one-on-one with students who struggled with their math skills. When I helped them out, my focus was to improve their core basic math skills. Math is a foundational subject, meaning that one topic is the foundation for another. Throughout my time in college, I have tutored students that are struggling in Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Algebra. I have also helped students with elementary math through the Salvation Army. When I volunteered there, I observed that students had the most fun when they could apply math to a real-world situation (i.e. addition and subtraction with pennies and dimes). Asking questions is the first step on the path to success. Any suggestions are helpful; your input helps me be the best tutor for you. I am easy to reach and will provide quick responses. Feel free to contact me with additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
