Enthusiastic English and Maths tutor

I have a huge passion for education and being a part of children’s lives. I find it incredibly rewarding to help children learn and watch them grow along the way. I am currently a Masters student and I have over four years of teaching experience. I thoroughly enjoy being a teacher and currently tutor children aged from 4-16 years in a wide variety of subjects such as, English, Mathematics, Science, Geography and History. I am also a TESOL teacher for a company based in China where I teach English to Chinese and Japanese children aged 3-16 years via an online classroom setting, which is absolutely fantastic! Furthermore, I also have the amazing opportunity to teach my own daughter who is home schooled and is currently studying for her GCSE’s. I like to make my classes fun and engaging, and I thoroughly enjoy playing educational games! I have experience teaching all aspects of English Language and Literature, Mathematics, History, Science and Geography from KS1 right through to GCSE. I am familiar with different examining bodies such as AQA, Edexcel etc. and their requirements. In my spare time, I enjoy writing and have recently had my first book published :D I look forward to assisting you in your education. Kind regards, Kayleigh :)

Math/Stats educator for 6+ yrs, former UC Berkeley instructor

Rather than a “top-down” approach delivering material for students to passively absorb, my tutoring focuses on your active processes as a learner constructing knowledge and making meaning of the material for yourself. I seek to learn about your background knowledge and skills, determine what your current needs are, then work beside you to build and refine conceptual frameworks and problem-solving strategies for you to find success on your own terms. Besides being a content expert in math and statistics, I am a research-driven learning specialist dedicated to helping you cultivate effective learning strategies along all stages of your journey as a scholar. My goal is not just to address your current questions and concerns, but also to help you master the tools needed to confidently construct the answers for yourself both now and beyond. Within my experiences teaching, tutoring, and training undergraduate tutors at UC Berkeley, I developed a nuanced, research-driven understanding of the factors that both enable and inhibit students in developing mastery of their course material. I’ve tutored and supported a wide range of math and stats courses, and identified what works best to meet the evolving learning needs throughout your academic journey, across both traditional and online learning environments.

Helping students master the test and score in the 30s

By a comprehensive study and mastery of the ACT test, I went from scoring in the 20s to achieving a composite score of 35. I am sharing the techniques and strategies I used to score in the 99th percentile! My approach focusses on strengthening key content knowledge, increasing answer accuracy and speed, and building up an understanding of the test dynamics. I work one-on-one with students to develop a custom study plan. Equipped with these skills and background, students will feel confident and primed for success on test day.
