Experienced teacher and tutor with MS in Mathematics

Perspective on Education: I have devoted my entire professional career to working with students both in and out of the classroom. From tutoring my peers throughout my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mathematics, to teaching college courses of all levels, to mentoring high school students, I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from various backgrounds, and from around the globe. With over 15 years of experience, I have developed an approach to teaching that is centered around developing the core of a successful student. I work to build a solid fundamental base, but more importantly I seek to impart the ability, confidence, and passion to seek out knowledge for the sake of personal growth. Regardless of your background or what topic you are learning, I bring an approachable, adaptable style to my work that develops a rapport with students that ultimately brings out their best. Math Specific Background: Despite never really being “into” math at a young age, I always excelled in the subject. By high school I accepted my fate as the resident math help and aided the school with peer tutoring and even joined the traveling math team for competitions. At university, I was inducted into the honorary mathematics fraternity, Pi Mu Epsilon. During my final two years as an undergraduate, I traveled to multiple mathematics conferences and gave talks on topics including, but not limited to, the mathematics of toilet paper. My senior year I received the Wilbur and Burdella Stuckey Carl Mathematics Prize for outstanding achievement in mathematics. After receiving my BS in Mathematics, I was offered a scholarship at the University of Akron to continue my education and teach simultaneously. In 2010 I earned an MS in theoretical mathematics and I have been teaching at universities while tutoring individuals ever since.

Economics Ph.D. also teaching Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, and more

I was accepted to the MAMF program at Columbia University in 2015 but chose for a variety of reasons to continue the economics doctoral program at Western, and successfully defended my dissertation (essays in financial asset pricing) in December 2021. I am currently seeking employment, particularly in data analytics or other quantitative research and analysis. I earned undergraduate degrees in pure and applied mathematics from the University of Calgary, with a CGPA of 3.87 on 52 courses, and a major GPA of 3.98. I am happy to consider any solicitations regarding mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics, natural or computer science tutoring. I have also worked as a software developer and spent three years in mechanical and biomedical engineering as an undergraduate.

Whether you need help with a course, want to strengthen your study skills, or are navigating a major project such as a thesis, I can guide you through: • Study planning, time management, and executive function support • Literature review and research paper writing • Theorizing and hypothesis development • Selecting research methods • Experimental design and survey methodology • Data analysis and interpretation Why Work With Me?
