Hello! My name is Shanelle and I teach economics and algebra primarily to middle school, high school, and college students, but I can teach anyone at any age. I have a passion for teaching and I’m excited to help you work through any economic or algebra problems you encounter! I have multiple degrees in economics including a B.A. in Economics from University of Chicago, M.S. in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University, Doctorate of Economic Development from New Mexico State University, and a PhD in Water Science & Management with a focus in Water Economics from New Mexico State University. All of these degrees had a strong mathematics focus, so I have extensive experience with mathematics subjects such as algebra. I have worked as a tutor while getting my degrees and I have also taught university classes in microeconomics and macroeconomics while getting my PhD. I have also taught community college courses before and after my PhD. I tailor my teaching to the individual and engage with you by igniting curiosity and integrating understanding at a deep level by improving critical thinking skills, experiential understanding, practicing practical applications, and connecting practical understanding to abstract, theoretical concepts. I am a polymath and I have a variety of interests beyond economics and mathematics. I am a musician and I sing, play guitar, and play piano. I also play tennis and enjoy hiking. I also have a variety of other interests. I bring this polymathic holistic understanding into my teaching methods. Hi! My name is Hannah and I am a freshman at IU Bloomington! MUSIC THEORY is a HARD class. I have taken it three times! I tutor the students in my music theory classes as well as my professor's students in his lower classes. I love sharing my knowledge of music and would like nothing more than to help others understand and love it as well. PROOFREADING is something I enjoy doing. Through proofreading all of my friends' essays over the years, I have gotten quite good at it. I am more than happy to proofread any essay sent my way. I LOVE MATH, I want to share my passion for problem solving and show others how it doesn't have to be frustrating and boring. I LOVE EDITING and WRITING, so please let me help make writing fun and easy! Being the grammar police isn't a bad thing... My favorite things are my dog, my fish, the mountains, and school;) Math is my jam! I love algebra and problem solving... as someone who struggled with math for years I understand the frustration of misunderstanding. Fear not! I am so excited to help students overcome their struggles just like I did. I graduated from Evergreen High School in Colorado last year where I tutored many of my peers since sophomore year. After years of struggling with ADHD and poor test taking/studying skills, I finally figured out what works for me and I love to help other students figure out a good solution for themselves as well. I am majoring in Audio Engineering in the Jacobs School of Music, but I have always loved math and writing. I am planning on minoring in secondary education as well;) I am passionate about teaching and take every chance I get to help other students. I am a great editor (and I enjoy editing papers) and I have experience helping with essay writing, reading comprehension, and overall reading strategies. I would love to help students with any math between Algebra-I and Algebra II (or middle school math!).
