French lessons by experienced teacher and PhD Candidate - fun and efficient!

Hi! I am a patient, benevolent and enthusiastic tutor, whose aim is to offer you a dedicated friendly space in which to practice or learn french. The most difficult thing while studying a new language is to feel confident enough to dare speak it and make mistakes : this is why I will encourage you to express yourself, giving you lots of tips in the process! Feeling confident and at ease is a must when learning another language, hence my dedication to create a safe space for you to navigate in, explore French, and discover your abilities in the meantime - with the right tutoring, anyone can speak French easily! Here is a little about me, and my teaching methods : I have always been passionate about languages - hence teaching French while doing a PhD written in English! I taught French as a Foreign Language to different types of students, from beginners to advanced, immigrants wanting to work in France or young American students in need of quick conversational and writing skills. I love getting to know my students, learning about their specific interests, sharing parts of our cultures and communicating my love for the French language! Making mistakes is not shameful, on the contrary: making mistakes is what allows you to progress, to learn. My aim is to give you the keys to use these mistakes to improve your skills, and to overcome any linguistic difficulty you may find. Being in the process of writing my Comparative Literature PhD in English, I do know how difficult it can be to master another language, which is why I offer you the best guidance throughout your French learning journey, drawing from my own experience as a language learner. Whatever your goals, from oral to written skills, from a better comprehension to a perfect conversation, we will manage to reach them all, working together towards achievement, success, and self-accomplishment!

Let’s learn Japanese with native Japanese speaker!

Hello, my name is Emi. I live in Tokyo and work in an office while also teaching Japanese. I majored in Economics and have over 20 years of experience in administrative roles. I earned a master’s degree in art studies while working, and currently, I am writing my doctoral dissertation. About My Lessons I offer practical, personalized lessons based on my professional and academic background. Lessons are mainly in Japanese, but I can support you in English if needed. You can learn comfortably at your own pace. ◆ Conversation Lessons: Small Talk to Office Japanese For learners who want to speak more naturally in daily or workplace settings We’ll practice small talk, polite language, email/phone expressions, and choosing words based on context and social distance. ◆ GENKI Practice Lessons For beginners using or reviewing GENKI I/II We’ll focus on key grammar and sentence patterns, especially parts that are hard to do alone, and apply them in conversation. ◆ Reading Lessons (News, Essays, Novels) For learners who want to read deeply and expand vocabulary Using real texts, we’ll build reading skills, explore cultural nuance, and discuss content to improve expression and thinking. ◆ Academic Japanese For university students and researchers We’ll study academic vocabulary, structure, logic, and prepare for reports, papers, and presentations. My Teaching Approach Through learning English and Spanish, I’ve come to appreciate how deeply Japanese reflects culture and values. Some expressions are hard to translate directly. I aim to share these cultural contexts so you can communicate naturally and meaningfully. Thank you for reading! If you're interested, feel free to contact me. I look forward to supporting your Japanese learning journey.

UCLA student passionate about helping students with writing, Classics, and English!

*** First half-hour session FREE *** Hi! I'm Devon, and I love to learn. I also know how much the process of learning can suck. Sometimes, no matter how hard a student tries, they just can't keep up. The content simply isn't being taught in a way that's compatible with how they learn. That's where I come in! I want to help you learn in the way that's best for *you*. Figuring out how to tailor my approach and reframe topics so that you can best understand them is my favorite part of tutoring! Whether that's coming up with custom practice problems, annotation systems, study guides, or just working things through together, I am here for you. Specifically, I'm here to help you with English (grammar as well as creative and academic essay writing/editing), Latin, ancient Greek, and introductory statistics. (For those interested in statistics, message me for free access to my R cheat sheet!) Now, on to the boring stuff. I'm a member of the UCLA class of 2024 currently pursuing a B.A. in Linguistics and Classical Languages with a minor in Professional Writing and a specialization in computing (GPA 3.973). Before college, I graduated Cum Laude from Milton Academy, #8 on Business Insider's "The 50 most elite boarding schools in America," where I served as a peer tutor for three years, helping students with Latin, English, writing, and math.

Certified tutor with experience in shaping a non-English speaker into a proficient English Speaker.

I'm a fully qualified English tutor from South Africa. I love learning about different cultures and countries. I'm very passionate about the English language and aspire to pass on my knowledge and skills to those who also want to master the English language. I'm a very patient tutor who believes that with the right mindset and eagerness to learn, we all have the power to achieve whatever we set our minds to. I have experience in helping students master the English language and becoming confident in reading, writing and speaking in English. In our class, we're going to focus on grammar, pronunciation, comprehension and vocabulary, as these are the core concepts of mastering the English language. I am a very relaxed yet professional tutor and understand that the learning process can often be very stressful already, so I do not want to add to that. I'll create a holistic environment that stimulates constant growth and challenges oneself to improve through getting out-of one's comfort zone and stretching one's mind so as to see how far one's capabilities can reach with mastering new language learning skills. The first time we speak to each other, I will ask you exactly what it is that you wish to learn, and perhaps why, and some questions about your own interests too. This will allow me to structure our conversations in such a way as to eventually fulfil your goals of speaking your desired language as fluently and as confidently as possible. It does not matter what language or languages you currently speak, all that you need is the eagerness and the willpower to learn. So,If you have the eagerness and desire to improve your English writing, reading, grammar, spelling skills, and I would be more than happy to patiently be of your assistance. Book Now for a first free 15 minute session, so as to work together towards your mastery of the English Language.
