I encourage students to ask questions and to think creatively. Beacuse once they learn this way they tend to remember the lesson better, and it also helps them to develop a questioning mind.

I am a dedicated, hard-working, and enthusiastic ESL Teacher with volunteer experience who is passionate about working with various age groups. I am passionate about encouraging learners to overcome their learning gaps in a student-centered classroom. I have the ability to increase learners participation and motivation in learning through engaging lessons and activities. I have teaching experience and my teaching powers rely in patience, understanding, adaptability, and fitting lessons for students needs. One of the aspects I enjoy most about teaching English as a Foreign Language is fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. I have the ability to create a space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and taking risks in their language learning journey. I always aim to make English relevant and relatable to my students lives.

TESOL certified Teacher with Task-based teaching experience

Most of my teaching experience has been with task-based activities and exercises. Each of my lessons started with a grammar concept that I would present. Then I had students do a couple of controlled exercises and a speaking or writing task using that grammar point. After a quick review my students moved on to the 4 basic English skills part of the lesson. They practiced exercises in speaking, reading comprehension, listening and writing . This methodology promotes maximum student engagement. It has practice exercises that encourage students to speak and write freely, producing their own thoughts in English. I have also had some opportunities to tutor one on one. I currently work at MyLingoTrip as a private tutor. As an ESL tutor, I source materials from the internet and create learning plans that are tailored to my students’ needs. The approach I use depends on a student’s learning preference, and most of them have been happy with their progress!

Amazing Tutor

Hi, I'm Teresa! I attended college at Georgia Southern University where I received my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I also attended graduate school at Western Governors University where I received my Master's degree. I am currently attending Liberty University for my Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language. My teaching experience includes teaching English to students in China and Korea online. I have over 2 years experience doing this currently. Previously, I owned and operated my own daycare where I taught young children the basics of learning. Prior to that, I was a substitute teacher to the Gwinnett County Public Schools for 2 years. In teaching ESL, I primarily focus on pronunciations, correct grammar, and correct sentence structure. I am patient and understand the methods of talking slowly, repetition, and growing with my students in their learning. I enjoy teaching both children and adults via lesson plans and conversational speaking. I try to provide a fun and exciting learning environment while teaching the fundamentals needed in being a fluent English speaker.
