I graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors with a cumulative 3.9 GPA. I believe that tutoring should serve the student's benefit in both the short-run and long-run. In the short run, I make sure the student has his or her specific question answered thoroughly and the specific concept learned. I also teach students to be independent thinkers so that in the long run, they are trained to apply a logical problem-solving approach to a wide variety of academic situations and have a fluent understanding of the subject they are learning.

I completed my undergraduate degree in mathematics at the University of Oxford, and then my PhD at Imperial College London. I have been through the experiences my students are having, from school level through the the MAT for university and university admissions interviews. I enjoy maths because it becomes a puzzle you can solve logically, with surprising and beautiful patterns emerging from nothing. My tutoring style is concentrated on the idea that understanding must be built on understanding. To that end I make sure I listen to the students and find where they are confident, and where they need help. If they are struggling with a concept, I find that going back to where they do grasp the ideas and working up from there can have great effect. I also believe that memorizing equations and formulae is much easier if you are shown how they arise, so I try to include that before moving on to problems. I have been tutoring for 10 years, and won the Imperial College Excellence in the Support of Teaching and Learning Award in 2019. I have also attended workshops in the teaching of mathematics, on how to teach mathematics, especially algebra, to school aged students in a successful way. I am also able to provide tuition to support students in their university applications for mathematics by preparing them with transferable skills for the entrance exam process.
