Perspective on Education: I have devoted my entire professional career to working with students both in and out of the classroom. From tutoring my peers throughout my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mathematics, to teaching college courses of all levels, to mentoring high school students, I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from various backgrounds, and from around the globe. With over 15 years of experience, I have developed an approach to teaching that is centered around developing the core of a successful student. I work to build a solid fundamental base, but more importantly I seek to impart the ability, confidence, and passion to seek out knowledge for the sake of personal growth. Regardless of your background or what topic you are learning, I bring an approachable, adaptable style to my work that develops a rapport with students that ultimately brings out their best. Math Specific Background: Despite never really being “into” math at a young age, I always excelled in the subject. By high school I accepted my fate as the resident math help and aided the school with peer tutoring and even joined the traveling math team for competitions. At university, I was inducted into the honorary mathematics fraternity, Pi Mu Epsilon. During my final two years as an undergraduate, I traveled to multiple mathematics conferences and gave talks on topics including, but not limited to, the mathematics of toilet paper. My senior year I received the Wilbur and Burdella Stuckey Carl Mathematics Prize for outstanding achievement in mathematics. After receiving my BS in Mathematics, I was offered a scholarship at the University of Akron to continue my education and teach simultaneously. In 2010 I earned an MS in theoretical mathematics and I have been teaching at universities while tutoring individuals ever since.

Hello! I'm Kenji, a fullstack coder who has 5 years of experience in the coding world. Fullstack is the intersection between the web and the servers running the logic. Since I was little, I have always been interested in making things come to life, and coding was what helped me express this. I am sure I can help you or your child do the same. Shoot me almost any topic, and I am sure I can help you grow and develop in these fields. I have knowledge in Node.JS, Vanilla JS, HTML, CSS, EJS, Python, the C's, SQL, MongoDB, etc. Bragging: I have a five hackathons win streak, two even collegiate level. Coding has interested me since I was little, only 10 years old. When I started, I wasn't able to make any programs and was just scrapping together information. But at some point, it just clicked, and my learning progression increased quickly. Knowing what it was like to learn code when I was very young, I am sure I can help make you/your kid have that click, for as I said before, I had that click. Remember, age doesn't matter in the grand scheme of coding. Programming is a skill that is only getting more valuable as our lives get more entangled with the internet. Prepare you/your child for the massive shift currently undergoing development in the workforce: programming. With me, you can learn Frontend, Backend, Mobile Development /w Electron, Basic Python, Game Development, etc. Take advantage of this programming takeover of the workforce and jump in when the market's still young.

Chemistry is an overwhelming and frustrating subject for many students. I specialize in breaking down concepts and explaining them in an understandable way. Recognizing that everyone does not learn a subject in the same manner, I constantly adapt my teaching style to meet the individual needs of my students. My role as a tutor is to help my students gain the self-confidence they need to learn the material and attain their educational goals. I have several years of tutoring experience in Organic Chemistry. My students have ranged from science majors to business majors. Many have plans to attend medical or veterinary school. Quite a number have been in nursing or health science programs. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for General Chemistry, undergraduate Organic Chemistry lab, and advanced Organic Chemistry lab. During my years of undergraduate and graduate research, as well as my time spent as a postdoctoral researcher and research scientist, I supervised undergraduates starting their own research careers. I want to be a beneficial resource for my students, and I welcome any materials or suggestions they may have. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an appointment. I will always give a prompt reply to any inquiry.

My excellent academic career has nurtured in me a natural talent for teaching. My experiences have taught me how to tackle one problem at a time, and I believe that using this approach—paired with my unconventional examples that force students to think outside the box—I can truly provide an excellent understanding and explanation. Experience: I have been tutoring since 2012 to fund my education expenses. I formally began tutoring in 2014 as part of my vocational training as a teacher in Ghana, funded by the University of Edinburgh. The formal training has taught me a lot about curriculum development, time management, and fusing my teaching methodology to my students’ needs. I have been tutoring in Physics, Chemistry, and Math, in person and online in 8 different countries. I have successful students from these past seven years that have not only commended my work ethic but can also stand testament to my enthusiasm. Methodology: My teaching methodology is based on two main things: skill development and adaptation. Initially, I adapt lectures to the specific needs of the student based on their knowledge and grasp of the concepts. Second, I like to develop analytical and scientific ability along with knowledge in my students, and for that, I use a combination of resources in the form of worksheets, class tasks, and past papers. Last, I believe in the strong ethic of providing feedback to the parents so they know their child’s progress.
