Camp Guide and English Tutor

Currently I work at English camps for kids in Germany during the spring and summer. It is a 24 hour job. Kids come to the camps on Sunday, and they leave on Saturday. We teach an English lesson in the morning, we do outdoor activities in the afternoon, and we organise games and programs in the evening. During the winter, I teach English online and in person. Last winter I worked in Bulgaria at an English school, and this year I am in Spain as an English language assitant at an elementary school. I was also a strong math student in highschool and university, and I am happy to tutor math or other subjects.

Professional Teacher - from Struggles to Strengths

Hello! I'm Meghan, from Los Angeles. I've been married for 28 years, and we have 2 children and a granddaughter. My native language is English, but I’ve been speaking Spanish fluently since the age of 9, when my family was transferred to Guayaquil, Ecuador for my father’s job. I’ve been teaching for over 15 years in self-contained classrooms, small-group and one-to-one interventions in elementary, middle, and high schools; most were Title 1 and/or dual language schools. I hold dual degrees in Bilingual/Bicultural Education and Spanish Language & Literature, and I have a current California Multiple Subject teaching credential in good standing. I believe learning happens best when students are at the center of their educational journey. As your tutor, I guide you through hands-on exploration and independent thinking, using the gradual release method - I demonstrate while explaining my thought process, then we practice together, and finally you'll work independently with confidence. Most importantly, I prioritize building genuine connections with each student. I'm naturally warm and approachable, often sharing stories that help us connect because real learning happens when students feel comfortable and understood. Whether you're struggling with concepts or looking to excel further, I'll meet you where you are and help you discover your own path to success.

I believe that education should be Learner_centered as it will help to enable the learners to acquire as much of the information on their own to improve their learning capabilities. I also like to impose group work session so that the children understand the meaning of cooperate work from the early stage.

I love mathematics

As a middle school teacher, I had taught Algebra, Geometry, and other areas of mathematics. I also taught GED Math and SAT Math classes at a public college. All but one of my GED Math students passed the GED Math after completing an 8-week session (2 days/wk) and several of my SAT students had improved their SAT Math scores by as much as 200 points after completing a 6-week session (1 day/wk). I have given students tips on how to prep for tests, use TI calculators, and write perfect essays. It has always been my goal to make sure that my students were able to use what they learned to help themselves thrive at the next level.
