Experienced teacher and tutor with MS in Mathematics

Perspective on Education: I have devoted my entire professional career to working with students both in and out of the classroom. From tutoring my peers throughout my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mathematics, to teaching college courses of all levels, to mentoring high school students, I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from various backgrounds, and from around the globe. With over 15 years of experience, I have developed an approach to teaching that is centered around developing the core of a successful student. I work to build a solid fundamental base, but more importantly I seek to impart the ability, confidence, and passion to seek out knowledge for the sake of personal growth. Regardless of your background or what topic you are learning, I bring an approachable, adaptable style to my work that develops a rapport with students that ultimately brings out their best. Math Specific Background: Despite never really being “into” math at a young age, I always excelled in the subject. By high school I accepted my fate as the resident math help and aided the school with peer tutoring and even joined the traveling math team for competitions. At university, I was inducted into the honorary mathematics fraternity, Pi Mu Epsilon. During my final two years as an undergraduate, I traveled to multiple mathematics conferences and gave talks on topics including, but not limited to, the mathematics of toilet paper. My senior year I received the Wilbur and Burdella Stuckey Carl Mathematics Prize for outstanding achievement in mathematics. After receiving my BS in Mathematics, I was offered a scholarship at the University of Akron to continue my education and teach simultaneously. In 2010 I earned an MS in theoretical mathematics and I have been teaching at universities while tutoring individuals ever since.

Inspiring Math & Sciences Tutor - 10 years experience - Free Live Consultation

My excellent academic career has nurtured in me a natural talent for teaching. My experiences have taught me how to tackle one problem at a time, and I believe that using this approach—paired with my unconventional examples that force students to think outside the box—I can truly provide an excellent understanding and explanation. Experience: I have been tutoring since 2012 to fund my education expenses. I formally began tutoring in 2014 as part of my vocational training as a teacher in Ghana, funded by the University of Edinburgh. The formal training has taught me a lot about curriculum development, time management, and fusing my teaching methodology to my students’ needs. I have been tutoring in Physics, Chemistry, and Math, in person and online in 8 different countries. I have successful students from these past seven years that have not only commended my work ethic but can also stand testament to my enthusiasm. Methodology: My teaching methodology is based on two main things: skill development and adaptation. Initially, I adapt lectures to the specific needs of the student based on their knowledge and grasp of the concepts. Second, I like to develop analytical and scientific ability along with knowledge in my students, and for that, I use a combination of resources in the form of worksheets, class tasks, and past papers. Last, I believe in the strong ethic of providing feedback to the parents so they know their child’s progress.

I work with children, teenagers, young adults, adults, elders and people with learning disabilities. I am Associate in Arts and Sciences- Psychology. I apply excellent Constructivist teaching methods.

I enjoy when I see my students making progress. When that happens I usually see this particular expression on their faces that says: "I am conquering the world!" They usually tell me "NOW IT MAKES SENSE". I feel very good when they are able to solve problems they thought they will never do! All my students are unique! I have a lot of experience teaching people with learning disabilities. By doing this, I was able to find different ways to explain difficult subjects in a very understandable way. I always have successful results. I love when my students succeed.

Personalized Learning Plan | Certified Tutor | SAT & ACT & GRE Prep | Calculus, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics and Probability | Creative & Interactive Lessons with Games

Hello students! I'm Elahe and I'm an enthusiastic online math tutor, studying 'mathematics and its applications' , and teaching kids from 2nd to 12th grade to reach their desired level in math :) My goal is to help my students get satisfied by discovering their abilities and talents, learn not to get frustrated by their weakness spots, but instead find the beauty within their minds! I have a 2 year experience teaching math online to international students on various platforms and have helped many develop a more passionate and innovative outlook towards mathematics. I always take part in different courses regarding online tutoring/teaching math to keep myself updated, as well as improving myself on all areas of this subject. I am also studying my B.S for Mathematics right now, doing all my best to reach my full potential in Mathematics! In my lessons I mostly focus on the 'why's and the reasons that lie behind each question. I teach my students in a way that helps them correct their perspective on the concept first, and consequently learn the techniques which are used to solve the problems faster and in a more efficient way. I always design a personalized short and long-term plan, so that we can work on our aim areas with an open mind. Our lessons are divided into different sections including intriguing games, math art, discovery, strategy, fun facts, quizzes, and etc. :)
