Justin L.
Emory University
Nursing Graduate & STEM Tutor
I am a nursing school graduate and pre-medical student currently preparing for the MCAT, with a strong academic foundation in science and math. My coursework includes College Chemistry I-III, Calculus I-II, Physics I, Anatomy and Physiology I-II, and Pathophysiology. Through nursing education and clinical experience, I have learned to break down challenging material into clear, practical steps and connect scientific concepts to real-world healthcare examples. I aim to create a supportive, patient learning environment that helps students build confidence while developing a true understanding of the material. I also volunteered with UPchieve, providing one-on-one academic support in STEM subjects as well as guidance on college planning. A major focus was helping students interested in nursing understand the application process, prerequisites, and ways to prepare for nursing school. In addition, I developed an online nursing-school resource that explained my own application path and common mistakes students can avoid; it received more than 1,000 views. I later mentored two Emory University pre-nursing students, supporting them with questions about student life, preparing a competitive nursing-school application, and planning their next academic steps. My teaching approach is student-centered and practical: I first identify what a student already understands, then break difficult topics into manageable steps, use examples, and encourage the student to explain the concept back in their own words.

**For a 15-minute free consultation please message me!** Hi! Below you can read a little bit about me: my academics, my tutoring experience, and what you can expect if you want to do a session with me. I started at McMaster in Life Sciences, and further specialized in biology (physiology research specialization) in my second year. My upper year courses have given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in many different subjects. I was personally recognized by Dr. Graeme Luke, the Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy for outstanding performance in first year physics and math. In my time at Mac, I had the pleasure of working with over 100 different students, totalling more than 1100 hours. I have done a variety of types of sessions, from weekly sessions to help my students keep up with course content, or last-minute test preparations with emphasis practice questions and last-minute tips and tricks. On top of that, I try to make my sessions with you enjoyable and fun – something you can look forward to in your week. Every student is unique, therefore every session is too. In my sessions, I really emphasize problem solving, because it is ultimately the skill that determines your test success. I also try to push you to solve the problem yourself, and I can step in to guide you along the way. Don’t just take it from me! Feel free to read the reviews down below, which are from past students of mine. Please message me with any questions. - Matt **For MCAT students** I have scored in the 99th percentile, including perfect scores in both CPFBS, and BBFLS. I have mentored a handful of students, focusing on scheduling their studying and most effective study tools. My MCAT tutoring specifically focuses on working through chemical, physical, biological, and biochemical foundations for students who are less familiar with any one of those sections. I currently work as an instructor teaching organic chemistry at a top MCAT prep company.
