Hi there! My name is Ayomide (pronounced eye-yo-ME-day) and I'm an Ohio native with a profound love for math and a gift for translating math to the unique brain language to anyone at any level. I have 5 years of tutoring experience and a background in cognitive neuroscience (the science in how people learn and behave) which fuels my passion for providing the opportunity for every student to finally understand math. I don't focus on simply going over the materials, many can do this, including ChatGPT, that isn't what you're paying a tutor for. The value I provide is human to human connection, using my natural pattern discerning abilities to pinpoint what unique challenges my students carry. This allows me to tailor every session to every individual pupil. From anxiety and overthinking every problem, to chronic mental math dependency, to being more of an artsy type than a logic type, I take the strengths that every student brings to the table and spin it in their favor. I enjoy maths because it becomes a puzzle you can solve logically, with surprising and beautiful patterns emerging from nothing. My tutoring style is concentrated on the idea that understanding must be built on understanding. To that end I make sure I listen to the students and find where they are confident, and where they need help. If they are struggling with a concept, I find that going back to where they do grasp the ideas and working up from there can have great effect. I also believe that memorizing equations and formulae is much easier if you are shown how they arise, so I try to include that before moving on to problems. I have been tutoring for 10 years, and won the Imperial College Excellence in the Support of Teaching and Learning Award in 2019. I have also attended workshops in the teaching of mathematics, on how to teach mathematics, especially algebra, to school aged students in a successful way. I am also able to provide tuition to support students in their university applications for mathematics by preparing them with transferable skills for the entrance exam process.
