Friendly, Patient, and Experienced Math and Statistics Tutoring

I've been working as a tutor since before I even received my bachelor's degree, working with college students in the Minot State University math department. When I was accepted as graduate student at North Dakota State University as a teaching assistant, I taught an introductory statistics lab for two hours each week and provided three hours of weekly tutoring in the student success center. This experience helped reinforce fundamental statistics concepts that I am now well-seasoned in explaining to students. It was also during this time that I started teaching on online tutoring platforms, and I've gathered over five years' experience teaching online. This taught me how to navigate the technological side of teaching as well! So no worries if you ever run into browser, webcam, or microphone issues. My specialty is introductory statistics, especially helping students in non-technical fields who are required to take statistics, but I can also help with algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and basic math. My teaching style is friendly and patient, giving you the attention you need. I am always willing to answer "silly" questions and break down concepts as much as necessary. My students should always feel comfortable sharing that they don't know something.

United States Air Force Academy, Florida Atlantic University

USAFA grad, MD, and returned Peace Corps Volunteer who loves to teach & coach

I am a 2004 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in philosophy & humanities. After graduation from college, I joined the United States Peace Corps and, for two years, lived in a small village in the sub-Saharan African country of Zambia. While there, I collaborated with Zambian colleagues at the grassroots level to increase rural awareness of preventive health measures to protect against malaria and other common diseases. Upon my return to the US from Africa, I began tutoring, and continued to do so as I worked my way through medical school. Subjects of expertise include standardized test prep, reading & writing, and math. My medical school experience forced me to learn techniques for efficient retention of large volumes of information. I, in turn, teach students these techniques, thus helping them retain what they have learned. I graduated from medical school in 2017 and continued tutoring, now with an additional focus on coaching. I believe this is what makes me unique as a tutor. I help students define goals, establish habits, and create systems that support good habits. We troubleshoot as difficulties maintaining habits arise, and modify our approach accordingly. I love helping students find their talents and translate them into career paths, including helping students find and apply for relevant programs of study, and finding professionals in those fields to advise and inspire. My medical knowledge, specifically my interest in mental health and how it contributes to academic & other success, also informs my work with students. I’ve successfully helped students with interventions like vitamin supplementation, dietary changes, and medication compliance for ADHD and other conditions, and more. I’ve consistently seen big improvements in students’ ability to focus, follow through, and in so doing, feel better about themselves. Please reach out if I can be of help to you or your student!

Medical Student - GAMSAT / Medical Interview / Undergrad / High school

Hi there! My name is Jack. Currently, I am studying a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. I completed a Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) at the University of Sydney with a GPA of 6.95 out of 7. I completed my year 12 studies in 2019 with an ATAR of 97.35. I have been a tutor for 4 years now. This began at the end of year 11 after completing mathematics a year early. Since then, I have tutored a very wide range of students, including primary school students, high school students, HSC students, GAMSAT students, and undergraduate science students through my role as a casual academic at the University of Sydney. School tutoring ($70/hour): For school students, I offer tutoring on a range of science and math subjects. I have had experience tutoring students from year 2 students with learning difficulties all the way up to high-performing extension mathematics students in year 12. I only offer tutoring services on the subjects that I am confident in, performed well in myself, and that I am up to date on the current syllabus and content. These include: - High School Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics - Primary School Mathematics and Science University/Medicine applicants ($80/hour): For university students and prospective medical students, I offer a range of services and can adapt to your specific needs. I have been there before, and understand how confusing and overwhelming undergraduate studies and medical school applications can be. I have gathered a wealth of knowledge on how to adapt to learning at university and how to excel in the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) that earned me a 98th percentile score. I offer the following services: - Undergraduate Science - Undergraduate Mathematics - GAMSAT tutoring (particularly for section 3) - Medical school interview preparation I also offer a 2-hour mock medical school interview with personalised feedback.
