Expert Tutoring in Math, Science, Spanish & Test Prep

Hi! I’m a Macaulay Honors College student and Stuyvesant High School graduate with 3+ years of tutoring experience from NYC. I tutor Spanish, math, science, and test preparation, helping students strengthen their foundations, keep up with coursework, prepare for AP exams and NYS Regents, and become more confident in their abilities. My approach is patient, interactive, and personalized. I first get a sense of what a student already understands and where they’re struggling, then adjust my explanations and practice to fit their needs. When a concept is difficult, I break it down and use different explanations and analogies until it is clear. I also encourage students to explain their thinking and work through problems themselves, rather than simply giving them the answer. I earned 4s and 5s on my AP exams and the NYS Seal of Biliteracy, and I’ve worked with students with a range of backgrounds and skill levels. My past students have described me as patient and said that I make difficult material easier to understand. My goal is not just to help students get through their next assignment or exam, but to help them develop the understanding and confidence to approach unfamiliar problems independently. I’d be happy to work with you and help you reach your academic goals!

Ivy League student tutors a variety of subjects in math, science, and language arts

My name is Ingrid Kambou Tachim and I am currently an incoming freshman at an Ivy League university majoring in Biology. I graduated from college with an Associates degree in Arts with highest honors and a 4.0 GPA. I also graduated high school with a diploma of distinction and a 5.2 GPA. I believe I am an excellent fit for this job, mainly because I have a passion working with children. As an older sister myself with two younger siblings, I find myself having to tutor more often than not. I have expanded this passion from inside my home to my community, by participating in volunteer tutoring for multiple organizations. I also find tutoring as an excellent way to sharpen my own skills, as teaching someone, especially someone younger, is the best way to test your understanding of a subject. Finally, I am an excellent communicator, and I find it simple to be able to deliver information to a child's mind and help them understand subjects they find challenging. Simply fit, this job is perfect for my skills, and I find myself the perfect candidate for it.

Broke College Math Tutor looking for Tutees

Hi there! My name is Herbert Ortiz, but I often go by Herb. I am currently a Math and Physics double major at New York University. While I spend a lot of time in class and studying, my math doesn't stop there. I often spend my time tutoring whenever and whoever I can, doing Putnam-style math problems, and just engaging in general math research(nothing serious, just casual learning of things that are not taught in the classroom). During my High School career, I tutored elementary and Intermediate school students in both Math and Science. This ranged from elementary math and science, all the way to basic Earth Science and Algebra 1. I also tutored my fellow high school students. I am able to tutor whoever wants to in the subjects listed in my profile below. With my tutee, I try to make sure they get to see the beauty and art behind math, which often gets lost within the classroom. I also try to make sure I provide a judgment-free zone, where tutees can feel like they ask any question without feeling dumb or stupid. I will also make sure I try to make sure I get them to understand as much as possible about the material during our time together. Lastly, I will do whatever in my power I can to make sure we just have fun with math! I look forward to tutoring with you soon! :)
