I am a very approachable person. I regard myself primarily as a scientist, and my PhD was in mitochondrial bioenergetics, which was at the interface between chemistry, physics and biology. After my PhD I was a professional scientist at Leicester University doing research on the enzyme DNA Gyrase, which supercoils DNA. Astronomy is my hobby (together with playing the saxophone and observing frogs and newts in my pond). I have no other commitments beyond being a tutor, so can devote all of my energy to it. I achieved A Levels in Chemistry (grade A) Physics (grade A) and Biology (grade A) in 1980 at Southwell Minster Grammar School.
