While achieving a 4.0 unweighted GPA, I improved my SAT score from 1300-1570 and got into Stern NYU (~4% acceptance rate). I've also gotten 5s on 7 out of 9 AP exams (I got a 4 in Lang & Lit because I didn't know how to excel in English at the time) including AP Calc BC, AP Stats, and AP Physics 1. I love helping others get into top colleges, so I've developed probably the most reliable way to improve SAT scores and have been tutoring math since middle school. My approach towards learning is all about efficiency and quality. I've spent countless hours perfecting data-proven and efficient studying techniques to get where I am today. With me, you'll not only get exceptional test scores but also acquire strategies and techniques that will make you an Academic Weapon for life.

Hello!! My name is Scott Neumann and I'm currently living in Bangkok, Thailand! I'm from Washington, D.C., USA and I have been teaching English to students from around the world for almost 30 years! I’ve taught students of all ages one-to-one, in small group, and in traditional classroom settings in the U.S., Spain, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand. I began teaching English as foreign/second language when I was an exchange student at the Spanish University of Valencia in the early 1990's. I later taught English in the New York City public schools at the elementary and secondary levels. After finishing an MA in Photography and Mass Media Studies, I decided to live abroad and teach English in South Korea. For nearly twenty years I taught English at the primary, secondary, and tertiary(university)levels, as well as senior citizens, privately and in schools and universities. During this time, I was also able to teach and live in Fukuoka and Okinawa Japan, as well as in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand. All of these living/learning/teaching experiences have impressed upon me the importance of maintaining a dynamic yet comfortable learning environment. I firmly believe that as long as students are feeling relaxed, comfortable, and enjoying themselves, there will be no limit to what they can learn. Learning a language is so much more than simply learning another skill. It is a process of becoming a slightly different version of yourself, as you explore new worlds unlocked through your growing capacity to connect with people and cultures through use of another language. The world is vast and wondrous. Let me help you improve, not only your grasp of English, but also your capacity to express yourself, develop new ideas, understand other people, cultures, and points of view that may be very different from your own. Let's get after it together--the world's waiting to hear what you have to say!

Hi! I'm a second-year Engineering student who genuinely enjoys teaching and helping students feel more confident in what they're learning. I love working with kids and finding ways to make lessons fun and engaging rather than something they have to dread. Since I'm also a student who experienced elementary and high-school more recently than other tutors, I have more of an understanding of how challenging school can be. I've taken many of these courses myself, so I know the study habits, tips, and approaches that can help students get through them successfully. Here's what I can do to help your student: Elementary School (Math & Reading): Elementary math is probably the most important math one can learn, as without a strong foundation in the basics, students will have a tough time learning advanced mathematics in their high-school and post-secondary life. I focus on making learning enjoyable while helping students build a strong foundation. Whether we're working on phonics, reading, or basic addition and subtractions, I'll ensure to keep lessons interactive and make sure they feel comfortable asking questions. Grade 12 (Calculus & Vectors): This is a course I took less than 2 years ago, so my memory is still fresh! It can sound intimidating and can be really hard if not explained properly, but that's why I'm here! I can help make topics like derivatives, limits, and vectors feel much easier to understand. I place a huge emphasis on solving questions step-by-step and breaking them down into smaller steps in order to make sure the student is able to keep track, understand, and ask questions when needed. This will help the students build a good foundation in calculus, rather than just memorizing formulas. Whether your child needs a little extra help, wants to stay ahead, or is preparing for an upcoming test or exam, I'll be happy to work with them at their own pace and help them reach their goals!
