Expert Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy, CASPER & MCAT Lecturer + Tutor - 10 years experience - Medical Resident

I am a medical resident with over 10 years of experience tutoring university courses and the MCAT. I scored in the 97th percentile for the Chem/Phys and 99th percentile for the Bio/Biochem sections of the MCAT (2017). I have also taught university exam prep and MCAT science lessons to in-person classes of over 150 students, as well as recorded over 1000 hours of 1-on-1 tutoring. Additionally, my work experience as a TA has taught me the ins and outs of how university exams are written, along with what students can expect from them. In chemistry and biology courses I can consistently predict the types of questions (and occasionally exact questions) that come up on exams. On top of my lecturing experience, I have also helped students to prepare for the MCAT exam. If you're writing the MCAT, I can work with you to design a study schedule, recommend high yield resources, as well as teach you an approach on how to tackle important MCAT questions/passages. In general, when tutoring I like to break down complex concepts into smaller steps using silly and efficient tricks. I've additionally completed a Master's in Neurosciences/Neuroanatomy and finished medical school in Canada. I have expertise tutoring the following tests/subjects: MCAT (Chem/Phys, CARS, Bio, Psych/Soc) Organic Chemistry (>3000 hours between tutoring + TA + class instruction) General Chemistry Biology (TA experience) Physics I also have expertise in Medicine, Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Neuroscience and offer sessions in Medicine/NBME/Nursing/Physiotherapy/MSK Anatomy/Neuroanatomy/Pharmacy/CASPER exam. Scored in the top quartile on the CASPER examination (2022) Below are sample tutoring resources that I created to complement my lessons. Also, I have attached some of my student's MCAT scores before versus after our tutoring sessions! Reach out if you're interested in setting up a session! :)

I have a Master’s in Biochemistry and lots of experience tutoring biology, chemistry, and math.

As a Master’s graduate in Biochemistry with hands-on research and teaching experience, I know how to break down complex science topics into clear, manageable pieces. Whether you're in high school or university, I tailor each session to your needs—whether that’s mastering the basics of biology and chemistry, diving deeper into biochemistry, or getting help with lab reports and assignments. My goal is to help you not just improve your grades, but actually understand the material so you feel more confident in class and in the lab. I'm patient, supportive, and I love finding creative ways to make science click for each student.

# About Me Status: Active ¤ A graduate of the University of Toronto that specialized in Computer Science and Physics currently building a new startup and leading intern developers. Served over five years as a maths, physics, and programming instructor at a weekend enrichment camp. # Notes * DO NOT request a "Meet Now" session unless I explicitly request you to. I missed one such Meet Now sessions\ recently. You also lose your free session if you do so. * The rate can be negotiable. I would recommend 20$ USD or 25$ CAD for a first-year course. The first 15 minutes is always free. * It is best to schedule regular sessions with me, especially on weekends. I can take weekday sessions, either planned in advanced or just in time, but please be advised I might not always be available for such a session. * I usually will still reply to you promptly on off days, but for best results, stick with weekends. * Regarding assignments and homeworks for marks, I cannot directly tutor you on that because of academic honesty matters. What I can do is to guide you with related problems that eventually lead to you solving the homework or assignment.

Need help with math, language, logic, science, or technology? I'm here for you!

Aloha, friend! My name is Lucas Jarrett, and I’m an online tutor! If I had to characterize my approach to helping people learn in simple terms, I would say that I believe education is a matter of teaching adaptability. The ability to adapt, or the capacity to change, is the fundamental skill of learning all things. We must always be prepared to adopt new ways of being. When we study life, we study the infinite; and when we study the infinite, our mindsets must be similar, or else we will not see everything that we could have seen. To realize that learning is the art of changing is to begin learning everything more easily. My primary goal is to help my students see and apply this awareness when studying anything they hope to do well. I have professional experience teaching many subjects, including arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, philosophy, biology, history, psychology, music, billiards, writing, research, literature, English, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, and more. Furthermore, I’m happy to offer insight into cognitive habits that often bring academic trouble, such as perfectionism, motivation, inattention, depression, and anxiety. I do not limit my educational strategies to any single methodology; I believe that every individual has a unique path in life, and I therefore work to be responsive to the specific, immediate needs of my students. Context is everything. If I'm trying to help a student become a better reader and writer, I may recommend that we explore good literature together; if I am helping someone prepare for a test in geometry, good practice problems and instructional resources will likely be part of the process. I tutor many subjects not listed here, so feel free to ask about anything! If I know how to help in a reasonable timeframe, I will help! 🙂 Note: I offer discounts to people who have financial need or pay in bulk. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss options if my posted rate is beyond your budget!
