I have been working with young people as a teacher/mentor for over 10 years. During that time, I taught Algebra I, Algebra I for Repeaters, Pre-Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II. I have been very effective in helping my students achieve success in their math class, from understanding the material to making incredible gains on their End-of-Course State exams. My students tell me they love the way I break the concepts and material down for them so that they truly understand. I focus on closing the gap for students who usually struggle in and/or have fallen behind in Algebra I or the math subjects prior to it, such as Pre-Algebra (7th and 8th grade Math), while helping them build confidence. After I determine the gaps in the student's understanding, the concepts they missed in prior grades or lessons, I then work on closing those gaps so they gain the proper understanding of the math. I also make sure students build confidence by providing opportunities for them to experience success during each session! One past student said, "I hated math, but she helped me to overcome my fear of it. I'd recommend her to anyone. She's kind, intelligent, patient, so helpful, and just a great person with a gift for teaching." Teaching and tutoring is my passion, and my ultimate goal is to empower students all over the world to succeed by helping them overcome their struggles and anxiety in one of their toughest academic areas, math! Hi! My name is Hannah and I am a freshman at IU Bloomington! MUSIC THEORY is a HARD class. I have taken it three times! I tutor the students in my music theory classes as well as my professor's students in his lower classes. I love sharing my knowledge of music and would like nothing more than to help others understand and love it as well. PROOFREADING is something I enjoy doing. Through proofreading all of my friends' essays over the years, I have gotten quite good at it. I am more than happy to proofread any essay sent my way. I LOVE MATH, I want to share my passion for problem solving and show others how it doesn't have to be frustrating and boring. I LOVE EDITING and WRITING, so please let me help make writing fun and easy! Being the grammar police isn't a bad thing... My favorite things are my dog, my fish, the mountains, and school;) Math is my jam! I love algebra and problem solving... as someone who struggled with math for years I understand the frustration of misunderstanding. Fear not! I am so excited to help students overcome their struggles just like I did. I graduated from Evergreen High School in Colorado last year where I tutored many of my peers since sophomore year. After years of struggling with ADHD and poor test taking/studying skills, I finally figured out what works for me and I love to help other students figure out a good solution for themselves as well. I am majoring in Audio Engineering in the Jacobs School of Music, but I have always loved math and writing. I am planning on minoring in secondary education as well;) I am passionate about teaching and take every chance I get to help other students. I am a great editor (and I enjoy editing papers) and I have experience helping with essay writing, reading comprehension, and overall reading strategies. I would love to help students with any math between Algebra-I and Algebra II (or middle school math!).
