I am a 2004 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in philosophy & humanities. After graduation from college, I joined the United States Peace Corps and, for two years, lived in a small village in the sub-Saharan African country of Zambia. While there, I collaborated with Zambian colleagues at the grassroots level to increase rural awareness of preventive health measures to protect against malaria and other common diseases. Upon my return to the US from Africa, I began tutoring, and continued to do so as I worked my way through medical school. Subjects of expertise include standardized test prep, reading & writing, and math. My medical school experience forced me to learn techniques for efficient retention of large volumes of information. I, in turn, teach students these techniques, thus helping them retain what they have learned. I graduated from medical school in 2017 and continued tutoring, now with an additional focus on coaching. I believe this is what makes me unique as a tutor. I help students define goals, establish habits, and create systems that support good habits. We troubleshoot as difficulties maintaining habits arise, and modify our approach accordingly. I love helping students find their talents and translate them into career paths, including helping students find and apply for relevant programs of study, and finding professionals in those fields to advise and inspire. My medical knowledge, specifically my interest in mental health and how it contributes to academic & other success, also informs my work with students. I’ve successfully helped students with interventions like vitamin supplementation, dietary changes, and medication compliance for ADHD and other conditions, and more. I’ve consistently seen big improvements in students’ ability to focus, follow through, and in so doing, feel better about themselves. Please reach out if I can be of help to you or your student!

Hi! I'm from Beijing and graduated from Peking University Affiliated High School with a great grade. I'm outgoing, humorous, and passionate about teaching with an engaging, theater-inspired style. I love tech, travel, anime, and gaming. I’ve won awards in theater and science competitions, and led website projects for my school. I’ve traveled across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and even biked 1500 km solo from Beijing to Hangzhou. With a strong academic background and diverse experiences, my classes are never boring! I have a global mindset thanks to frequent international travel, deep exposure to Western culture, and friendships with peers from around the world. I'm also fluent in Chinese internet culture and memes—so I can connect across cultures, online and offline. I have two years of teaching experience and have worked with students of all ages—from young beginners (6–12 years old) to adults—tailoring lessons to their needs. My students come from diverse countries, including Norway, Turkey, Singapore, the U.S., and Mexico, and my teaching has been widely praised for its clarity, patience, and cultural insight. At my high school, I was selected by foreign teachers to join the elite Writing Center, tutoring peers in academic English. I also served as a Chemistry TA and led theater coaching, helping even the shyest students gain confidence. I avoid rigid memorization and instead guide you to understand and enjoy the language through dynamic activities, cultural context, and plenty of practice. My teaching style is highly personalized and flexible—I adapt each lesson to your specific goals, interests, and learning pace. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to improve specific skills, I believe in teaching what you need, not just what's in the textbook. My classes are interactive, engaging, and student-centered, with a strong focus on communication and real-world usage.

Extensive experience in all grade levels, college and in an after school middle school library setting daily. Past students have described my skills and presentation style as approachable, especially by an ability to frame subjects in the vein of popular culture, making nearly any topic digestible even if once an impenetrable fog. I also strive to address the fundamentals of education via rejection of rote memorization, instead showing students how information personally can have meaning to them, thus making retention all the more easier.

With some technical engineering experience, 5+ years as a classroom science teacher, and now 3+ years of STEAM tutoring, I believe that I’m now a well-rounded educator who can help anyone achieve their goals. Whether you need support with a highly-technical course or conceptual understandings more grounded in reality, problem sets or reports, if you’re an advanced learner or struggling with organization and foundational skills, I can meet you where you’re at and help you grow. At this point, I’ve seen just about every teaching method, word problem, diagram, symbolism, etc., and can easily adjust to what your class requires and/or what will help you specifically to wrap your head around the work. And, if we don’t find immediate success, I am persistent and will put in work outside of our sessions to ensure improvement. Perhaps one area that sets me apart as a tutor is my preparedness. While I certainly can give lessons on short notice and answer your questions on the fly, I also like to ensure that we're efficient with our time and that I don't create confusion by doing things too differently from your professor. For example, if the course is AP, IB, Regents, etc., I will review the symbols used and the grading policies beforehand - I've even looked over a few college syllabi for this reason. And if you can send me an assignment ahead of time, I will look it over and perhaps solve some problems ahead of time so that I have clear explanations ready and we don't waste time exploring dead ends. For regular clients, I'm also happy to communicate over messaging as often as you'd like. I will provide regular feedback on growth and needs in both technical and non-technical areas. And for quick questions, I'm happy to help without setting up a lesson and charging. I'm also fortunate to be quite flexible, so please don't hesitate to ask if you can push back a lesson or reschedule.

My name is Nteboheng Mokhethi, and I am thrilled to be your English tutor. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the National University of Lesotho, and English is one of the official languages in my country. I believe strongly that if people are given the tools and a platform, as individuals can change the world for the better. My way of contributing my bit is to empower individuals with knowledge. Each one teach one is my motto when it comes to this. I am excited to share this enthusiasm in passing on knowledge with you. In my classroom I foster an interactive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement. I am also very flexible enough to adapt my teaching my teaching approach to different student types, from those who learn by activities to introverted theorists. In my classroom giving feedback is not just so students see what they got wrong, it is an integral part of their develop, it’s focused on praise and achievement along with improving on areas of weakness. I am trained to use all forms of technology if they’re available to enhance learning and make it more fun and accessible. Different learning materials allow me to create an environment that’s supportive and inclusive so students can feel confident enough to engage with me and other students in the classroom. As an educator it is important to practice what you teach and understand that how one carries themselves impacts the students’ behaviour greatly. Having good morals and ethics and treating students with respects is a good way to ensure they embody these ideals in the classroom and in life. I always try to impart students with the understanding that one needs to be responsible for themselves and those around them as I am a person with a strong sense of community. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to tell you more about myself, I look forward to getting to know you better. Warm regards Nteboheng Mokhethi.
