Phillips Academy Andover

Phillips Academy Andover Student of AP Physics C, Advanced AP Chemistry, SAT Math

Hi I'm Will! I’m a student at a top college-preparatory school in Andover, Massachusetts with a strong foundation in math and science. I recently completed AP Chemistry and AP Physics C: Mechanics & Electricity & Magnetism, and I’m currently taking organic chemistry. This fresh experience means I know the material inside and out—and how to explain it in a way that actually makes sense. I also scored a 780 on the SAT Math section, so I can help with test prep alongside schoolwork. As the oldest of five siblings, I’ve spent years breaking down complex topics into clear, simple steps, especially for younger students who need encouragement and guidance. My goal is to make learning less stressful and more effective, no matter your starting point.

Dependable tutor with physics experience

I only tutor physics, and sometimes the math to go with it. Mostly I tutor AP Physics 1, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism, High School Physics, Honors Physics, Calculus-based Introductory College Physics, and Algebra / trig –based Introductory College Physics. I also sometimes work with students in AP Physics 2, Honors Physics, Homeschool Physics, and so forth. I taught high school physics for 6 years. In that time, my students earned a statewide reputation for excellence on IB Physics SL and IB Physics HL exams, in spite of taking the IB Physics SL exam at the end of the first year rather than after two years. They also performed well on exams for AP Physics C Mechanics, AP Physics C Electricity and Magnetism, and AP Physics B (a combination of AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2, more or less). In the final year, they dominated the competitive Drake physics exam, administered to over 1,000 students in four states by Drake University. I also taught high school math in rural Kenya through the Teach for Knowledge program. And I’ve taught English as a Second language online and for one hour as a guest in a junior high school in Uganda. I have a BSC in Physics from South Eastern Kenya University.

Math and Physics Tutor

I have 14 years of teaching experience in Math and Physics. My belief is that when students understand the underlying concept, then the math involved makes more sense. I can help with math (6th grade through Pre-Calculus) and Newtonian Physics (General Physics, Pre=AP Physics, and AP Physics 1). If you're struggling in math or physics, send me a message and we'll work on a plan to help!

Physics & Math Tutor | PhD | 27 Years Teaching Experience

I am a physics educator with over **27 years of experience** teaching and tutoring students from middle school through college. I have extensive experience working with **neurodivergent** students. I have a **PhD in Physics Education Research**, spent nine years as a college physics professor, taught high school physics and mathematics, and served as a Science Department Chair. My specialty is helping students move from "I don't understand physics" to seeing physics as something they can solve and enjoy. I focus on building strong conceptual understanding, problem-solving strategies, and confidence—not just memorizing equations for the next test. I work with students in **AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C, general physics, college physics, and nearly all levels of mathematics**. Whether you are preparing for an AP exam, struggling with a challenging college course, or looking to strengthen your foundation, I tailor each session to your goals and learning style. My teaching background has taught me that every student learns differently. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing the skills needed to become independent learners. Online tutoring allows us to work together effectively using digital whiteboards, shared problem-solving, and interactive explanations. Sessions are typically 60–90 minutes, giving us enough time to understand concepts, practice problem-solving, and make meaningful progress.
